How it all started...
Sparks First Church of the Nazarene's first service was held at American Legion Hall on C Street in Sparks on February 28. Our church was officially organized on the Nevada-Utah District on Sunday, December 10, 1944. There were 15 charter members who joined the church that day.
The church purchased property at 13th St. and Prater for$2,240.00 in August 1944. This location was expanded into the adjacent lots and buildings were constructed to be used as Sunday School Rooms and Church Offices.
In January 1974 the church purchased land on the outskirts of El Rancho. It was a big purchase for the congregation and is a testament to how the church received it's reputation of being a "church built on miracles".

Expanding the vision...
Construction began on El Rancho Drive and elders of the church participated directly in the construction. Some of the elders involved in this project are still faithful members of our congregation to this day.
On January 15, 1984, the Sparks First Church of the Nazarene congregation gathered for a day of celebration to dedicate the new facility. About 350 people attended the evening dedication service.
Fast forward to 2021, Sparks First Church of the Nazarene's name was changed to Home Church of the Nazarene. The most common feedback we receive from visitors is that our church feels like Home. Our name change was based on the vision given to our Pastor, Carlos Garcia, from God based on where we've been and where we are headed.

Where we are headed...
God is on the move in our church like never before. We truly are, the church built on miracles! We recently remodeled our church and it was an amazing experience to have the elders there to see the next generation caring for and loving the building they helped build.
More important than the building itself, is the body of Christ and how God is using us to not only care and serve one another, but to leave the four walls of the church and reach the city for Christ. We are heavily focused on outreach not only to our community but throughout the world.
We like to say, because it's true, that our church looks like a bag of skittles. Our congregation is made up of all ages, many different races, cultures, colors, and languages. We image we look a lot like what Heaven will look like as far as people go.
At Home Church there is a heavy emphasis placed on the children and teens. They are a very important part of our congregation and are actively leading and participating in ministry. We have something for everyone, we are family.
Home is for everyone, it's where we belong!
